Facility Characteristics:

VIBES provides music therapy services through private practice, home health, and facility-based sessions. Our internship program provides opportunities for growth with a large range of populations and settings. Interns will have the opportunity to select session types and populations that are most appealing to them while still experiencing other populations served by our program. We primarily serve patients in the hospital setting, psychiatric setting, and memory care setting, but we also see large numbers of children in group sessions centered around augmenting development. Our patients range from infants all the way to end-of-life care. Music therapy is mainly used to address cognition, social/emotional skills, and pain management, but early childhood intervention is not uncommon. 

Training Information:

Our training program uses an eclectic approach to music therapy with some additional focus on the cognitive framework. Interns will be given flexibility in choosing the sessions they attend to better specialize in training in their populations of choice. Interns will observe, co-lead, and lead individual and group music therapy sessions at various facilities within the community. Interns will also be encouraged to advocate for music therapy services to other members of the treatment team when needed. The opportunity to engage with Kindermusik classes is also available during the internship to encourage skill development regarding musical play.
